The event will be held at the Eastern Shore Community College Workforce Development Center, 29300 Lankford Highway, Melfa, VA 23410. When you enter the driveway to the Community College, we will be meeting in the building to the left.
The Annual Oyster Roast will be held on Wednesday night, January 25th beginning with a social at 6:00 pm and oysters served at 6:30 pm. Along with oysters, there will be all-you-can-eat barbecue, sides and beverages. Tickets will be $35.00 in advance and $40.00 if purchased the day of the oyster roast.

Virginia Eastern Shore Ag Conference and Trade Show
Join us in Melfa, VA for the 27th Annual Eastern Shore Agricultural Conference and Trade Show on January 25-26, 2017. This event is free, open to the public, and will be held at the Eastern Shore Community College Workforce Development Center. This year’s school will feature 2 ½ days of timely presentations in the areas of crop management, nutrient management, pest management, soil and water management, and climate. This year, the school will also feature the popular Crop School on Wheels field tour (limited to 50 participants). You’re Invited to the 2016 Virginia Ag Expo August 4th at Double B Farms in Dinwiddie
“Celebrating Southside Virginia’s Agricultural Diversity” is the theme for the 2016 Virginia Ag Expo. The Virginia Ag Expo is the largest field day held annually in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an educational, marketing, and social event, farmers and agribusiness look forward to the Virginia Ag Expo each year.
This year the Ag Expo will be held in Dinwiddie County on August 4th. The location, Double “B” Farms, is owned and operated by Billy Bain. Double “B” Farms is a large diversified farming operation consisting of 3,500 plus acres of crops, consisting of: corn, soybeans, wheat, peanuts, cotton, forage, and a beef cattle herd.
In the field, There will be demos, research and discussions on Cotton, Sorghum, Peanuts, Forage, Beef Cattle, Sweet Potatoes, Small Fruits, Niche Pork, Soybeans, Field Corn, Tobacco, and Integrated Pest Management along with drone demonstration, soil pit demo and fertility work.
Over 150 exhibitors and sponsors will have on display all of the most up to date equipment, goods and services for agricultural producers and property owners no matter how large or small. Field tours will also be presented by many of Virginia’s top agricultural researchers and Cooperative Extension Agents and Specialists.

Mid-Atlantic Crop Management School Registration
The program for the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Crop Management School (MACMS) has now been set and the online registration website is now active. Everyone is welcome to attend! Virginia nutrient management credits and Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) credits will be offered. Local and regional farmers, independent consultants, certified crop advisers, nutrient management consultants, and agency and university professionals will join together to learn the latest on a wide range of topics from local, regional, and national speakers.
The Mid-Atlantic Crop Management School (MACMS) will be held from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19, 2015 at the Princess Royale in Ocean City Maryland. Some of the notable speakers include Dr. Bob Nielsen (Mr. King Corn) from Purdue University, Dr. Dewey Lee from the University of Georgia, Dr. David Langston from Virginia Tech, Dr. Randy Taylor from Oklahoma State University, Dr. Gordon Johnson from University of Delaware, Dr. Jarrod Miller from University of Maryland Extension, Mr. Mark Dubin from University of Maryland Extension and U.S. EPA Chesapeake Bay Program Office, Dr. Scott Bretthauer from the University of Illinois, and many others.
